Rick & Jennifer Bassett’s Real Estate
Investing in Main Street rather than Wall Street

Real Estate Experience

Jennifer and I became ‘accidental landlords’ several times over when were we unable to recoup investments in the short-term on properties that we purchased due to changing market conditions. It turned out to be our good fortune.

After living through terrible stock market conditions for our first 15 years of saving it often felt like the game on the street is rigged against the average investor.

We have since refocused our investment strategy on buy/build, hold and rent real estate for the long-term and  have added several properties to our investment portfolio.

We’ve found that the best way to avoid the dreaded ‘toilet call’ in the middle of the night is to replace all of the plumbing before and provide new toilets before long-term tenants move in.

These are a few sample photos of projects that we have done over the past several years to get our properties ready for rental. It is extremely gratifying to see the results of hard work at the end of the project.

Our basic rule of thumb is that we wouldn’t rent anything that we wouldn’t live in ourselves.
